INTERESTING MALMO FACTS

🌉 A Bridge Between Countries 🌉
I actually flew to Copenhagen airport as Malmo is easily connected to from Denmark, via the Öresund Bridge. This incredible feat of engineering is both a road and rail bridge stretching over 8 kilometres. You can hop on a train and be in Denmark in just 35 minutes! 😯

😍 A Multicultural Hub 😍
One of the things I love the most about this city is its multiculturalism. Malmo is one of Sweden’s most multicultural cities, with over 170 nationalities represented! This diversity is reflected in its vibrant food scene, neighbourhoods, and cultural events.

💚 The Green City 💚
Malmo is known for being eco-friendly, with nearly half of the city’s population biking to work or school. The city has also heavily invested in green energy, and many of its buildings use renewable resources like wind and solar power. ♻️

🏙️ Cultural Diversity in Architecture 🏙️
What I love about Malmo’s architecture is the eclectic mix of old and new. You’ll find medieval buildings in the old town, like St. Peter’s Church, side by side with ultra-modern designs like the Turning Torso and the sustainable district of Västra Hamnen (Western Harbour). I fell in love with this mix of architecture, it makes walking around so enjoyable!

🗼 Home to Turning Torso 🗼

The Turning Torso, at 190 metres, is not only Malmo’s tallest building but also the tallest in all of Scandinavia. Its distinctive twisted shape was inspired by the human body in motion, and it has become one of the city’s most recognisable landmarks. 🤩
