Testimonials

FAQs

Could you help me with my CV?

Absolutely! Many students of mine, Business English or not, have requested this service before. I am happy to dedicate an online session to improving your CV with you. What I recommend you do is have a template and draft ready so that I have some content to work with already. I’ll proof read it, checking for grammar, vocabulary or spelling mistakes. By the end of the session, it’ll be ready to send to potential employers!

Is there flexibility in the schedule or format?

I understand that the majority of my Business English students have a hectic schedule, usually including a part or full time job! Fortunately, there is flexibility with online learning in evening classes, part-time enrolment and weekly schedules for those who don’t have a fixed rota. Just let me know your schedule in advance and I’ll be able to provide as much flexibility as possible!

How is feedback provided?

I provide feedback in two ways: on-the-spot and delayed correction. On the spot correction means mistakes are corrected immediately, as soon as the learner makes them during speaking or writing activities. This allows you to receive instant feedback. Delayed correction means errors are noted and collected during the learner's speaking or writing activity, but correction is deferred until a later point in the lesson.

How can I improve my English for work?

There are many different ways you can improve your English, including watching English TV shows and Ted Talks, having conversations with native speakers and reading Business English magazines. However, if you want a more engaging way to learn, starting an online course with me would be more efficient and I could tailor the course to your needs, whether that’s focusing on speaking or writing skills. I’m here to help!

What materials are used in the course?

Common types of material I often use in my Business English course are:

  • Textbooks: Business English textbooks provide structured lessons, vocabulary exercises, and examples of business communication. They cover topics such as emails, reports, meetings, presentations, and business writing.

  • Online Resources: digital platforms and online resources may include interactive exercises, multimedia content, and self-assessment tools. These resources can enhance learning through technology.

  • Writing Templates: templates for common business documents, such as emails, reports, and proposals, can be provided to guide participants in structuring their written communication effectively.

How will the language be taught?

So for this course I tend to focus more on case studies, role play and simulation exercises. For example, I are more likely to be a facilitator when teaching meeting skills or a mediator when teaching monitoring a negotiation instead of a conventional English teacher. You will have a specific purpose for learning English which includes a huge vocabulary bank of business terms and authentic materials. I like to make this course as dynamic as possible so that it doesn’t feel like you’re stuck in an aimless meeting!

Why is Business English important in email communication?

It enhances professionalism, clarity, and effective expression of ideas. It ensures that your emails are well-received in a business context.

Are you able to help me improve my Business English emails?

Absolutely! With my online Business English course, writing guides, and email worksheets provided in class, you will be able to develop your email writing skills. Practice and seeking feedback are also effective ways to improve.
